Musa velutina (Hairy Banana)

Musa velutina is a dwarf banana species that can be used as a houseplant provided it can get bright light or dappled sun. It grows to about 6ft tall and will produce white to yellow flowers with velvet reddish bracts followed by small reddish-pink, fuzzy fruit. The fruit are not typically known to be edible, are about three inches long, and tend to automatically peel open when ripe. This leads to one of its common names, "the self-peeling banana".
